Professor Goodwin Liu Proposed to be Appointed to the Supreme Court of California

Professor Goodwin Liu, Assistant Dean and professor of law at the University of California Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall), will be appointed Associate Justice as Justice Carlos R. Moreno has retired on February 28, 2011. The appointment will be effective when confirmed by the Commission on Judicial Appointments. Chief Justice Tai Cantil-Sakauye (chairperson), Attorney General Kamal Harris, and Presiding Justice Joan Dempsey Klein, Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, Division Three (Los Angeles), senior presiding justice of the state Courts of Appeal, will make the appointment of Professor Liu.
