       Gide China Hires New Partners

Gide Loyrette Nouel has hired Fan Jiannian and Liu Yue as partners at their Shanghai and Beijing offices. The two partners specialize in M&A, Finance, Energy, and PPP projects, working in numerous sectors including automotives, manufacturing, appliances and industrial gas.

        Herbert Smith Appoints New Partner in SE Asia

Herbert Smith partner Michael Walter will relocate from London to Singapore in July taking the position of Southeast Asia managing partner. Walter has more than 30 years of experience in M&A’s, joint ventures, demergers and corporate reconstructions, privatizations and equity, and debt offering work.

        Cooley Brings in Two Partners in Shanghai

Cooley hired partner Christina Zhang and senior associate Benjamin Qiu to its Shanghai office. Zhang was previously the vice president and Asia-Pacific general counsel of Johnson Controls advising the company’s Power Solutions business with a focus on China. Qui was previously a senior counsel and fund director at Innovation Works.

       Orrick Expands its PRC Practice with 2 New Hires

Partners Matthew Lewis and Seung Chong joined Orrick’s corporate teams in Beijing and Hong Kong respectively. The new partners specialize in capital markets and M&A. Lewis was the former legal head of global capital markets at Morgan Stanley and Chong previously worked for Proskauer Rose.

       Allens Appoints New Partner

Allens hired new partner, Joanne Daniels for their Queensland practice. Daniels is a resources infrastructure and competition lawyer and  began her career in the Queensland Government,  and then moved on to Clayton Utz and then to Middletons. She is familiar with some of the world’s largest resource companies and brings her expertise in resources and infrastructure to the Queensland practice.

       KWM Hires Two New Attorneys in Beijing

King & Wood Mallesons hired partner Dirk Walker and counsel Diana Yin in its Beijing office. The two will work in its energy and resources practice in China. Walker joins KWM from Dewey & LeBoeuf with a background in petroleum engineering. He has practiced in Beijing for over 5 years. Yin comes from Linklaters and has acted for Chinese and international oil companies in oil, gas, and mining.
