Morrison & Foerster announced that that leading international tax Partner, Eric Roose, will join the firm's Tokyo office. Mr. Roose will be moving from White & Case's Tokyo office along with a tax team that includes: Of Counsel Michael Shikuma and two Japanese tax specialists (zeirishi), Yasuo Igarashi and Takeo Mizutani. The move provides Morrison & Foerster's already established Tokyo office, a premier tax platform to complement its other practice areas in Tokyo.

Orrick has hired Yoshi Takatori for their Tokyo office and will head its Japan litigation team. Takatori, who will be moving from Paul Hastings, will be joined by fellow Paul Hastings Of Counsel Shinsuke Yakura. The move comes as Orrick has seen an increase in Japanese and cross-border litigation over the last few years, according to Managing Partner, Mark Weeks.

Baker & McKenzie has hired James Kwan as a partner in its China Dispute practice. Mr. Kwan, who is coming from the Hong Kong office of Simmons & Simmons, focuses his practice on international commercial arbitration and litigation. Gary Seib, head of the firm's global dispute resolution group, told ALB that the appointment of Kwan will help the firm "augment its sector focus on energy and infrastructure disputes," as well as allowing the firm to capitalize on opportunities arising out of the growth of China outbound transactions.

King & Wood has announced the addition of senior PRC litigator, Renee Gu, to expand the firm's Hong Kong and China dispute resolution practice. Ms. Hu has over 20 years China dispute resolution experience, including working at the firms Jones Day and Herbert Smith.
